Love You So Matcha!

Last week I posted on our Instagram account about my love for drinking Matcha Lattes and using this super ingredient in a variety of With Love By KM products. This sent my message inbox into overload. There were just as many DM’s for the latte recipe as there was for the benefits of Matcha. So I though for this weeks blog post I would give you both!

The benefits of drinking matcha and using it in your skincare routine are essentially the same. One is just working from the inside out and vice versa. So what is all the hype about?

Matcha comes from the same plant that produces green tea, the Camellia plant. However it’s not grown the same which is what gives this super ingredient its very unique nutrient profile. It’s partially grown in darkness which helps to amplify the chlorophyll production, boosts amino acid and gives Matcha its signature vibrant green color. Unlike green tea, Matcha contains the nutrients from the entire tea leaf which is why it has a higher concentration of caffeine and antioxidants than traditional green tea.

Whether you are drinking your Matcha or using it in your skincare routine this plant based ingredient contains high levels of epigallocatechin gallate, which is known to be helpful in reducing inflammation and evening out skin tone. The antioxidants are known to help reduce acne while also increasing skin elasticity.

Matcha Latte

 

Ingredients:

1/2 tsp Organic Japanese Matcha Powder

3 TBS HOT water

1-2 tsp Organic Agave (optional)

1 cup Oatmilk (I prefer the brand Oatly. Honestly any plant milk will do. If you use a vanilla sweetened oat or almond milk I would leave out the agave until you taste for sweetness)

Directions:

Steam your milk in a small/medium sized sauce over low to moderate heat. Stirring occasionally and careful NOT TO BOIL. Takes a few minutes.

While the milk is steaming I prepare my hot/boiling water with the matcha until dissolved then I add in my agave.

Pour the steamed milk over the matcha mixture and using a frother blend until desired consistency. No frother no problem! Just pour all ingredients into your blender. Blend on high for about 60 seconds. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy! Cheers to good looking skin!
